What to expect in your first session?

The prospect of seeking the services of a psychologist can be a daunting one, particularly if it is your first time and you are uncertain of what to expect. It is natural to have questions about the therapy space, the office location, or even the appearance of your therapist, and any feelings of anxiety or uncertainty are completely understandable. But first of all, orient yourself to the space, make yourself at home and take a comfortable seat. You may relax on the couch or settle into one of the chairs, whatever suits your preference.

It is understandable to feel apprehensive or uneasy about therapy, but please rest assured that you are in a secure and supportive environment. Remember that your intention is to work towards enhancing your mental health and overall well-being.

If you are feeling overwhelmed or fatigued, or if you are contemplating cancelling your appointment, it is beneficial to communicate these emotions to me. I am here to support you and address any concerns you may have. I invite you to speak candidly and openly about your feelings, thoughts, and experiences, without the need for any formal preparation or specific goals in mind. We can explore any issues that may be on your mind, and I am here to offer my attentive ear and support.

Please be aware that I do not subscribe to quick-fix solutions, nor do I believe that anything about you needs to be "fixed". Instead, I believe that you already possess the internal resources required to heal and grow, and my role is to guide and equip you with the tools and practices necessary to activate the healing process.

Please know that you are not alone, and you have a reliable source of support. My role is to assist you and provide guidance as you navigate your mental health journey. By working together, we can endeavor to improve your well-being and realize your aspirations.
